Matt Brown: Fans want to see me fight Carlos Condit, not Tyron Woodley

It appears the Strikeforce import is not, in fact, "The Chosen One."

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender, Tyron Woodley, recently said mixed martial arts (MMA) fans were hoping to see him move on to fight Matt Brown after putting away Dong Hyun Kim last Saturday (Aug. 23, 2014) at UFC Fight Night 48 in Macau, China.

Unfortunately, not everyone agrees.

That includes Brown, who told FOX Sports (via MMA Fighting) that he is more interested in a fight against former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit, because fans would rather see two fighters "bloody and beat up" no matter where the fight goes.

His words:

"Me and Condit were supposed to fight once before and I think that's the fight everyone wants to see. I think our styles, the way they match up, is probably the most interesting fight out there. I'm open to whatever. I don't see the fans anticipating a war [with Woodley]. I don't anticipate anything in a fight. A lot of them are probably going to expect [Woodley] to knock me out real quick or he's going to take me down, grind me out real quick, or that I'm going to slowly beat him up and that it'd be a good war. Those are three basic options for Woodley where I think Condit you have, most likely, no matter how this fight goes, we're f**king each other up. We're going to be bloody and beat up at the end."

Brown is nursing a hand injury and won't resume training for about four weeks.

While "Immortal" is coming off a loss to Robbie Lawler last month in San Jose, Calif., he didn't lose much stock in defeat, thanks largely in part to his performance against "Ruthless," who is ranked No. 1 in the welterweight division behind champion Johny Hendricks.

Is moving on to face "The Natural Born Killer" the fight you, as a fan, want to see?
