Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has started filling up its UFC 180: "Velasquez vs. Werdum" pay-per-view (PPV) fight card, which takes place on Nov. 15, 2014, inside Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.
First up is a lightweight battle pitting longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Diego Sanchez against streaking division up-and-comer Norman Parke. "The Nightmare" (25-7) lost won a split decision over Ross Pearson back in June to snap a two-fight skid, while "Stormin'" (20-2) pounded at Noayuki Kotani in Dublin to extend his undefeated streak to 11 fights.
In welterweight action, Jake Ellenberger tries to get back "in the mix" at the expense of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 champion Kelvin Gastelum. "The Juggernaut" (29-8) is coming off consecutive losses to Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler, while the Arizonian remains perfect in nine trips to the cage.
Headlined by a heavyweight title fight featuring Cain Velasquez vs. Fabricio Werdum, UFC 180 will also produce a 145-pound match up between Ricardo Lamas and Dennis Bermudez, while Erik Perez fights Marcus Brimage in featherweight action.
