Copa Podio results: Rodolfo Vieira submits Alan Belcher, wins tournament

Top UFC middleweight Alan Belcher put his grappling chops to the test in a grand prix tournament on Saturday night in Rio.

USA TODAY Sports

Call it a learning experience.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Alan Belcher was schooled in last weekend's Copa Podio heavyweight (98kg/189.6 lbs.) jiu-jitsu tournament, which took place on Feb. 1, 2014 inside the Botafogo Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

And it didn't end well.

"The Talent" went down on points in the opening round to Faisal Alkitbe, before getting choked out by Rodolfo Vieira in the second stanza. He would return to the mats on two more occasions and come up short in both attempts. Vieira, however, would claim top honors.

But Leandro Lo didn't make it easy.
